In a recent post written by Natalie Walters for the Business Insider, Deepak Chopra is quoted as predicting that well-being is going to be the hot topic of 2016. In the same article Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, goes into the details of the importance of sleep and how she realizes it is so important that she has created naps pods for all of her employees in all of her business locations. (I like this woman!)
Health, well-being and mindfulness has been a part of my personal life and my work as a Life and Wellness Coach for decades. Taking time to take care of yourself should be a top priority in 2016 and every year after that.
Taking time to slow down and even stop to ‘’smell the roses’’ is not just a saying. It is a must if you want to have the energy to go the long haul. You must rest in order to re-charge, rejuvenate and re-ignite your passions so that you can enjoy life to its fullest.
I recently had the amazing opportunity to go to Hawaii and visit the four main islands. I could have spent hours driving all over the place to try to get EVERY site and excursion done in the short time frame that I had. Instead, I chose to find a few really amazingly beautiful places deep in nature and soaked in the sights, sounds, feelings and energies.
Of course I was active and swam in the spectacularly clear waves, hiked in the jungle and jumped off waterfalls, I surfed…. Or learned to fall hilariously off of a surfboard in the ocean. I walked miles and miles on the beaches, but most of all I took the time to be in awe of the trees and plants and the beauty of my surroundings. I spent many hours merely enjoying the moment and breathing it all in.
If you know me well you know that I am a yoga teacher who practices what she preaches. I did one yoga pose every single day…. I did Savasana everywhere and as often I could.
Yes… I napped in paradise! I hope you get a chance to nap there as well !!
